What is a TB skin test?

A tuberculin skin test involves a small injection just under the skin of the forearm. A trained professional checks the reaction 48 to 72 hours later. You must return for that reading; looking at the arm yourself or sending an ordinary photograph does not replace the required assessment.

A skin test helps assess TB infection. It does not by itself diagnose active TB disease.

One-step and two-step TB testing
